How it started
For many years, I worked as an architect. I loved to draw, create spaces, choose materials, and build. Yet, something was missing. So, I pursued a master's degree in Urbanism. I hoped planning sustainable communities would make my work more meaningful. In many ways, it did. But still, I longed for more.
In 2017, I moved from Oslo to Copenhagen, hoping that a change of scenery would bring new perspectives. I found great opportunities but also challenges. I had a hard time understanding the restlessness that I felt. After experiencing a health breakdown, I was fortunate to take time off to reflect and realign myself. I found some old paintings from my childhood. I loved to paint and draw as a kid but forgot to nurture this part of me in the stress of growing up. So, one day, I pulled out my old brushes and watercolours. The joy of creating and the calm I felt, I came home myself.
Life's journey is a mystery. While I'm still searching for answers, I find solace in creating. I believe that each of us has a unique gift, a way of expression that is natural to us. I call it your 'thing'. And it doesn't have to be within art. It could be anything that brings you joy and a sense of being in the flow. At least for myself, painting softens my heart and calms my mind.
In my sixth year of practice, I've learned that growing a business takes time. The most important lesson I've learned is about courage. It's about having the courage to be vulnerable, to showcase my work, and to trust the outcome.
